Christmas Day Christmas Beers #2 of 2. Picked up at Chuckling Cheese in Doncaster when it was operating. A bronzed dark ale, looking quite attractive, which might be its best feature. It is crisp, but perhaps a little thin for it, regular in taste, on the bland side of things. Drinkable but unexciting.

500ml bottle, part of a pack I bought for myself for Christmas last year, finally got round to opening it on 6th March 2025. Drank at home, poured into a vase shaped pint glass (Old Speckled Hen badged), it looked fine, a bright, clean and clear light amber body with a short lasting white crown. British hop bitter, no citrus fruits in this earthy/woody/twiggy brew. Not much malt action either, just an honest 'basic' bitterness. Most likely from Batemans, but don't actually know.

Bottle from LCB. I have to say that my bottle contains a liquid far redder than the one shown in the current picture. No indication on the bottle as to who produced this and the BBE date is left blank - all good fun. Clear light red colour, brief fizz. Aroma of apple skins and a confected starwberry. Taste is fairly sweet with a drying apple and strawberry pithy quality before turning syrupy and sour by the end. Medium bodied, oily yet drying. Not keen at all, lacks a lot of balance.

Bottle from LCB, no indication of the cidery. Pours a clear amber gold with some light foam. Aroma of tart fruity apples with plenty funk. Taste has a good juicy pithy apple, semi-dry, semi-sweet, some funk. Medium body and carbonation. Surprisingly tasty.

Bottle from LCB. Label gives no clues as to the brewer. Clear gold/light amber with wispy white head and decent lacing. Aroma and taste of bread crust, sweet citrus and floral bitterness. Medium body and carbonation. Slightly cloying. A bit basic. Sometimes these kind of beers surprise you in terms of quality but not this one.

Bottle from LCB with a picture of Santa showing his arse crack, ho! ho! ho! Semi-hazed amber pour with small consistent light-beige top. Aroma and taste of malts with cereal and bread crust edge, nuts, some mixed fruit. No indication about who brewed this. Decent bitter though.

Bottle from LCB. Pours a murky amber. Aroma of cooking apples, orchard funk. Taste itself is a fairly dry mulched apple flavour with some vinegar. It has a certain homemade quality but still better than 95% of supermarket ciders.

Bottle from LCB, BBE not readable. Clear bright amber with some froth around the rim. Aroma of sour apples, light leather and sugars. Taste has a syrupy to leather like apple flavour, not as tart or dry as expected, a bit astringent in the back of the throat but quite sugary at the same time. Not a a great balance of flavours.

Clear dark gold with small white head, modest retention. Aroma is bready, some caramel, some citrus rind, spice. Taste is semi sweet, caramel, some fruitiness but a slightly unpleasant earthiness.
