12 oz bottle, 49¢ loose bottle at Sam’s, Downer’s Grove. Pours the usual pale yellow, but with a bit of a rocky head. Corny "beer" smell, which probably is the 1960’s formula. I’ve gotta admit, there’s a surprising "zip" to the taste. That’s the only way to describe it. A slight crunch of malt that doesn’t get too tangled up in adjuncts. If not pilsner in color and malt bill, there’s at least a spicy hint of German hop. No, not too sweet, but with an even finish instead. Mouthfeel tickles like a good bowler’s beer. As a macro lager, it’s not that bad, and yeah, could be my cheap beer of choice during hard times to come.

Wow, this is classy. Bright golden color with a very artificial seeming foamy head. Funky nose was somewhat soapy and very grainy. Flavor was soapy with a weird fruitiness, somewhat appley, I guess there is a lot of acetaldehyde? The VSL label seems accurate enough as it does have a smooth almost slick finish. Mildly fizzy mouthfeel. Finish is grainy and harsh, fusel. Somewhat comparable to euro strong lagers but this one has a poor fermentation profile.Coming back to it - I didn’t drink it fast enough and as the beer warmed it developed a terrifically horrid grainy fuselly bite in the finish that is easily compared to garbage and dishwater.

A golden lager with a thin dissipating white head. Aroma of skunk and sweet cream corn. In mouth, an oxidized mish mash with almost no taste, a bit sweet metalic finish, hurts my stomach. However, gotta give points for Dumdum chugging the rest of this awful stuff in one gulp. Old Stock VI evening, March 23 2007.

Light, rather insipid gold colour with nice sparkle and whispy head. Grainy aroma with some acetaldehyde, creamed corn and other sulphuric stuff lie struck match. Very sulphuric on the palate, at least up front. The finish is ultra sweet, creamy, sugary, like if Haagen Dazs made a Creamed Corn and Sulphur flavour.

Draught. Poured pale urine yellow with thin fast dissipating head. Aroma of sweat, maze and cardboard. Tastes like week old rusks left to gather moisture. No finish.

Is everyone rating this beer daft? This is perhaps the very worst malt liquor I have ever tried. It was not easy to drink and the after effects of it were catastrophic. It is because of beers like this that people should not be allowed to buy alcohol while intoxicated, because they, as I did, might think that buying this poop is a good idea. The hangover from this was worse than the one from 211.

Thanks to my father in law for supplying this one. Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a medium golden color with a large soapy white head. The aroma is sour, tangy and corny indusrial brew. The flavor was dry, tangy and a bit corny. Pretty darn good for a maco light beer.

24 oz. can. The aroma is actually attractive, though difficult to describe. Seems a bit floral with bready undertones. The color is orange tinged gold, and the white head fled quickly. Thin to medium body with fizzy/creamy carbonation. The flavor is somewhat biscuit, and there is definitely hop bitter. The alcohol intrudes at the finish, which is neither dry nor sweet. No particular bitter at the end. At least it’s not papery. There are many, many better beers, but it is drinkable.

Date code 11197 B80405. Can you believe this is the first time I ever drank this? I don’t know how I missed it in my cheap beer history. I never really associated ’The Bull’ with Schiltz. I find regular Schilts quite enjoyable as a cheap beer. Big 40 oz brown bottle with a resealable twist off cap. Etiolated yellow. Chronic fizz appears within. Aroma is mellifluous and acidulous. Taste impact is not demulcent. Has decent carbonation but IMHO needs more. Finish is adjure and stakhanovite. Overall not feckless, nearly offensive, does it’s job. Reminds me of many ’ice’ beers and other malt liquors.
