Bottle: 2008 vintage Oily black....rubied, with a thin, quick, dark tan head. Chocolate-covered cherry aroma. Dark fruit, dark bitter chocolate malt, cola taste. Maybe a little past it’s prime, I’m afraid.....a little oxidation...though still carbonated pretty well....very malty.... A little too far on the dark fruit side for my taste, but good.

Pour is a hazy copper with a average white head. Aroma Is a nice sugar plum with a bit of toffee and alcohol. Flavor is a big toffee and a full on assault of earthy malt. The mouth feel is a bit thick but has plenty of chewy molasses and toffee malt with a lot of dark fruit but also has a bit of hop bitterness. One of those beers where you can still taste it long after the swallow. The alcohol is no problem with this beer but it does give you a pleasant warming in the chest after each swallow.

Pour is a complete black with a large tan head. Aroma is a nice char malt with some sugar sweetness. Flavor is a super rich burnt malt with some licorice and a bit of alcohol. Not much of a hop presence with this one. Finish leaves a nice burnt malt on the tongue. For a Russian impy stout this is surprisingly lacking in hops but this does have a super rich roasted/chared mouthfeel.

Bottle from the Craft Beer Advent Calendar
Black color, small head. Some liquorice and dark malts in the aroma. Good body strength; chocolate flavor, a bit too much medicine (phenol?), moderately sweet, with some leather, and some alcohol warmth; a bit of roasted nuts too.
Quite good, a bit weird.
