12oz bottle, recent release. I bought this expecting a lot but I got was a poorly made barleywine with many of the trappings for the style. Lots of high alcohol astringency with cherry. Its just what I hate in a barleywine. A few sips and dumped it.

I was expecting a lot more out of this one. Aroma is fruit caramel and Sullivan’s. Flavor’s like nose, bittersweet, with a lingering bitter, boozy finish.

Good porter, if a tad thin. Pours a solid dark brown-black, and the nose gives up coffee and chocolate like a good porter should. Taste is right in line, coffee acidity mingling with bitter cocoa and a mild cherry-raisin tartness. Never grows sweet, which is nice, and the fade stays dry, mild hop bitterness accentuating the mocha finish. Feel isn’t great, but we can deal with it.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks GothGargoyle for this bottle! Black with tan foam. Aroma of roast, chocolate, a bit of dark fruits, a bit of oxidation. Sweet flavor with chocolate, roast, a bit of dark fruits. Medium to full-bodied. Very nice, but could be fresher.

355 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with moderate tan head that settles quickly. Aromas of dark molasses, sugary dark fruit, and sweet roasted malts. Rich flavors of nutty dark chocolate with raisins, oily molasses, vanilla, black coffee, and roasted malts. Rich and oily. Good stuff.

Not a lot of soul, but man does that duck-rabbit have a spiffy hat. Sweet toasted caramel malts flare up and die down too swiftly, then the mildly bitter finish fades fast. Looks good, tastes average.
