Great for style, with nice coffee and roast. Pours murky dark brown with food head and lacing. Nice German malt finish. Good package. Bottle from grape and gourmet.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a jet black color with an off white one finger head that ended up having a light speckled lacing.
The smell had a nice blend of roasty sweet coffee beans and chocolate malts.
The taste followed the nose.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was fairly tame which made it really easy to put it down the ol’ hatch.
Overall, this was a pretty good Porter to have again if I could get it.

Bottle at Dmacs. Pours black brown head. Nose/taste of mocha, pine, resin, toast and touch metallic. Overcarbonated. Medium body.

Cashew and walnut nose, fairly rich, all within a caramel base, some lacing. Clear dark copper, thick yellow head. Overripe orange, oak, cashews, lemon zest. Complexities really come to life upon warming. Medium body, quite hot. Enjoyable, but I’m not sure I like the hop choice in this milieu.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Dark fruit and chocolate aromas. Hot with chocolate and dark pit fruit front to back. Lasting espresso finish.

Thick and viscous black/ruby stout. Small creamy silk beige head, lacing coats the glass. Aroma of chocolate and coffee, burnt toast, wet wood. Taste is smooth with a kick of roast grain bitterness on the finish. Velvety mouth feel and lingering finish. A sipper, and a keeper.

Thanks to Rian for sharing!!
The beer starts smooth, very sticky. Intense malty, roasted but too sticky for me. The nice floral hops are covered by the roasted malty dry body. The aftertaste is smooth, intense, roasted with a fresh hoppy note lying over the malty intense brew!
great, but a bit too sticky to let the hops come through! 12/12/13/12

I received this in a trade more than enough times and just found the notes to this.
Every time I’ve had this, it was always poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice dark brown close to black color with an off-white to somewhat dark tan one finger head that dies at a nice slow pace and ends up leaving some nice looking spiderwebbing lacing in the wake.
The smell had a super nice blend of dark roasty chocolate malts to coffee beans. Its an eloquent combination!
The taste was bittersweet bliss between the chocolate and the coffee. There was the exact same aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, it sat medium to heavy. I found myself sipping this, but it showed a superb carbonation running about my mouth and tongue.
Overall, all I have to say is absolutely wow! If I lived in North Carolina, I would probably be stalking this brew wherever I could find it.

Nice beer. Creamy, with big mocha head and lacing. Milky and a little sweet. Big roast taste. Finishes mostly with bitterness. Bottle.
