Description
Wat ooit begon als ondeugend idee mondde uit in een mooie samenwerking tussen twee Arnhemse bierliefhebbers.
After the bankruptcy of Brouwerij Durs in June 2024, it seemed for a while as if Arnhem had to say goodbye to its beloved specialty beers. But luckily, salvation came: Durs was successfully taken over by Pieter Lok, an experienced entrepreneur who is determined to breathe new life into the brand. Together with his brother Jaap from Brouwerij De Snor, he brings not only passion, but also craftsmanship and extensive experience in brewing specialty beers to the future of Durs.

Bottle at home. Clear pinkish orange color, virtually no head. Aroma and flavor are lightly malts, sweetish, a bit odd, hard to describe. Weird and not my kind of beer at all.

From a “Jumbo” in Arnhem. Deep gold with a frothy, white head. Caramel and dough aroma with an indistinct fruitiness. Taste is mildly sweet with a touch of fruity tartness at the end. Medium-bodied, mild carbonation, smooth. Fairly simple in the end.

Giving this one an extra notch because I hate to see such a good beer with such a stupid rating. This was brewed by five women, in Arnhem where I mistakenly ended up yesterday. An odd saison, definitely spicy, peppery, but also a bit of herbal funk.

Bottle from a grocery store in Arnhem called the „Jumbo“ that had about 5 aisles. Reddish with a foamy head. Bready, caramel aroma with a touch of cherry. Taste is mildly bitter, disturbed by an aggressive carbonation that gives this a slightly acidic, soda-like feel. Medium-bodied, dry—everything else is just .. fizz. Gets slightly better with some time in the glass.

From the „Jumbo“ in Arnhem. Straw colored with a light haze. Low alcohol = low aroma in this case. Subdued hints of lemon peel and tangerine. Taste is more tart than bitter, again on the very mild side. Avoids the off sweet notes of a lot of beers in the style. Finishes watery on a light body, but does manage a low-level crispness. Refreshing too. Ok.
