Echigo Raspberry Chocolate Cake Stout 7% Dark black with rusty tan foam makes for a good looking beer. Strawberry jam aroma with dark caramel bread malt character. The taste is big raspberry up front then roasty dark malts with the chocolate in the aftertaste. I had a raspberry Kit Kat so decided to pair them. That works really well, the beer brings out a bright tangy raspberry from the Kit Kat which then accentuates dark chocolate notes in the beer. This is really quite nice. The Echigo stout is solid so I shouldn’t be surprised this is too. Now, I want to get another to try it hot.

Green can, 350ml size. Poured into an old 'Licher' Weizen glass at my daughters place in Laguna Hills on 30th January 2022. Lightly hazed golden body, full on white head. Metallic twang to this one, yes there's some spiciness and maybe even that banana aroma and flavour so often found it this style of beer; but it's the unwanted 'tinny' hints that rule this brew.

350ml can (6% ABV) at my daughters in Laguna Hills on 29th January 2022. Pours an almost clear amber, the head a beige affair. Hoppy front to the brew, some bitterness within it's resinous aroma and taste. The malts kick in and there is a slight caramel sweetness below the surface, but the hops control the nose and flavours.

350ml can from Hi-Time Wines, Costa Mesa. Drank at my daughters on 24th December 2021. Rice Lager is not a specialty of mine, but this was a pretty bland 'grainy' beer with not much going on aroma or flavour wise. Clear and clear golden body, short lived white head. Just didn't do it for me.

Pours a clear gold from a can. Very sweet grainy aroma, clearly rice based. Crisp and clean but sweet. Not a good beer, kind of a classic lager.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear yellow with a white head. Pleasant, sweet malty nose with floral hops. Medium body, sweet maltiness but far from cloying. Very subdued bitterness, and in the long run perhaps a tad too sweet. But well made. 221121

Can from Kyoto station Yodobashi camera. Pale gold fizzy fast vanishing white foam and mild grainy aroma. Light bodied and very spritzy effervescent carbonation. The taste is grainy sweet with hints of honey. Kind of standard lager type brew with no noticeable hops. Better than I recall.

Roast and some dark chocolate. Easy drinking and decent enough, though lacks strong character. Bitter finish with a bit of lingering tang. Black pour with good head. Can.

Light white rice kind of flavour. Pretty boring but not offensive at least. Golden pour with decent head. Light cloying finish but isn't too off. Can at Rakuya.
