Panda thanks to Wingman. Almost clear very dark brown beer, small bubbly dark tan head. Smooth and mildly viscous palate, a mild dryness, decent fine carbonation. Rich dark malts, a kinda dark chocolate cake liqueur thing going on. Earthy but smooth rich coffee. Bourbon soaked rip fruits. Finishes mildly viscous and very slightly bitter. Full on and pleasingly, not oversweet.

12 oz stubby bottle from the BA Big Beer box. Aroma has notes of toffee, plum, fig, vanilla, nuts, oxidation, booze, cinnamon. Pours murky brown with no head or any trace of foam. Taste is highly sweet, tart from the figs, and a little savory with some bitterness around the edges. All the adjuncts are readily apparent. Softly carbonated. A very rich sipper.

Panda thanks to Wingman. A mild haze on this deep amber brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Smooth palate, a mild dryness, decent fine carbonation, about right for this barleywine. The malts are fairly light bodied but, packing a ton of flavour, smooth caramel, cream and a little dark toffee, none of it oversweet. The barrelling tastes like a mixture of apple brandy and bourbon. Some oak induced vanilla. Not really picking up that much cedar. Light finish. A rich and tasty barleywine.

Full body, light carbo. High sweetness, med-light bitterness, med-light alco warmth, soft, fluffy. Lots of chocolate, med-high dried fruits, raisins, prunes. Hint of coffee. Tasty, decadent, good sipper, but could use more complexity.

Sampled from the tap at Churchkey. Pours a clear pinkish red with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has pineapple and tangerine with a growing mango presence. Flavor has tangerine and tart pineapple with some mango in the finish.

Panda at home, thanks to the Wingmane, 18/11/2025.
Black with a tan head that veers edgewards.
Nose is dark malts, spice, mellow roast, chocolate, subtle barrel tones, molasses.
Taste comprises dark fruit rinds, toffee, dates, ripe barrel notes, spruce tips, fruit cake mix, figgy pudding, brown sugar melt, good bourbon lick, hint of liquorice.
Full bodied, light oily feel, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost.
Solid sipper ... this one grew on me.

Not a hallmark rating but this is 2100 for me. Fortunately I get to try an imperial stout that appears to be loaded up and that makes it quite worthwhile. 12 oz bottle from Half Time in NY, no way I get to taste a beer like this unless Half Time offers it. My ABGB tulip glass gets the honor this evening, I easily remember the event when I acquired the glass at the brewery. One of the nicest breweries in Austin to visit, the beer there is decent enough. The pour into a snifter is thick and dark with a practically non-existent head. Fortunately I do see a steady stream of very fine, tan bubbles rising to the surface. The nose is rich with chocolate fudge, some roastiness and dark bread. The drink is exquisite, exceeding my expectations. Bourbon strongly, cocoa, scorched grain, raisins, malt, berries, caramel and oak. I know the ABV is high but I really don't notice it. The sensation is quite full which lines up with the pour. Tasting a beer like this makes me happy, enough to say on that.

Panda thanks to Wingman. An oily looking dark brown beer, small bubbly dark tan head. Smooth palate, a little viscous, reasonable fine carbonation, absolutely fine for this style. Rich dark chocolate malts, a little dark chocolate malteasers. Rich ripe fruity bourbon, prunes, a little dates, robust bourbon soaked fruits. A very mild alcohol spice on the fairly light finish. Nothing here that hasn't been done before but that doesn't mean this level of richness and rightness is easy to achieve, it ain't and this is up there.
