Very dark brown with thin head. Aroma and flavour have some nice bittersweet treacle. Fairly simple but nice.

Bottle. Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma is roast, chocolate, earthy, fresh yeast. Taste is roast, chocolate, yeast. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Not too convincing, but alright.

28 April 2018, at Zythos Bierfestival. Deputy Taster: Anke.
Porter based on a recipe of Barclay Perkins, dating back to the 18th century. Cloudy black with a lasting, foamy, beige head; little lacing. Aroma of caramel, roasted & salted peanuts, roasted malt, coffee liqueur, figs, black tea, herbal hops, some tobacco (especially when warming up). It tastes medium malty sweet, hints of caramel & nuts, light roasted bitter with a light sour undercurrent. Toasty & caramel-like finish, some peppery hops & slight coffee liqueur. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Drinkable, sweetish, but balanced in the finish.
