Got in a BIF from jdell15. 375 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2017 vintage bottling. Pours hazy deep reddish copper/brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy cream colored head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, prune, cherry, fig, date, apricot, apple, red wine, brandy, toasted oak, peppercorn, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, and biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, herbal, leather, tobacco, vanilla, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Some booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, cherries, and brandy barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge raisin, plum, prune, cherry, fig, date, apricot, apple, red wine, brandy, toasted oak, peppercorn, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, and biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, chocolate, herbal, leather, tobacco, vanilla, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate yeast and brandy/oak spiciness on the finish. Slight fruit tang/tartness. Lingering notes of dark fruits, cherry, apricot, apple, red wine, brandy, toasted oak, peppercorn, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, biscuit, vanilla, light nuttiness/chocolate, herbal, leather, tobacco, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, cherries, and brandy barrel flavors; with a great malt and yeast/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from yeast/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is fairly well hidden; a light-moderate increasing warmth of 12.8%, not too much booze lingering after the finish. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged Belgian strong dark ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, cherries, and brandy barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on with the mellowly spicy/tannic/drying finish. Really impressive balance between all flavors. Cherries complement the dark fruity yeast perfectly. Not too jammy, but nice overall flavor contribution. Complex dark/bready malt backbone. Tons of brandy barrel presence, without being too boozy. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Got in a BIF from jdell15. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 7/27/2017. Pours slightly hazy golden/amber color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearane. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, light honey, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, pine, light honey, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, sticky/resinous/rindy, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol for 7.1%. Overall this is fantastic IPA! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Very vibrant and dank hops; great bready malt backbone with no residual sweetness. Never overly aggressive. Perfectly balanced citrus/tropical Falconers Flight and dank/piney Columbus hop character. A highly enjoyable offering.

12oz can. I was a little concerned about the four month age on this one but it held up great. Pretty much an awesome Pils, but then with the big juicy hop tones on top of it. Really an impressive offering. Drinkable and clean, but with lots of new school hop sensibility. Solid.
