Bottle, 12C. Cloudy pale gold with a large white head. Aroma of oranges, dough and gin botanicals - juniper, citrus peel, perhaps I’m imaging the angelica. Taste is like a cocktail (which I guess it is) - a light and fizzy Belgian blond with lots of oranges and light sugars plus gin. I suspect he gin is better than the base beer. It’s odd but very light and refreshing for the alcoholic content. Sweetness is a little tiring as it warms.

Bottle from Carrefour, Calais 22-02-10 consumed 02-03-10 Pours orange/gold lightly carbonated with some white bubbles showing. Quite sweet in a honey and syrupy way, it’s also very malty and with just a hint of orange, absolutely fine but also a beer that I quickly tired of and couldn’t finish the bottle. Bottle, 7.5%. Good sweet spicy aroma. Hazy golden colour, small bits floating around. Big white head, quite stable. The flavour is like the aroma, sweet and spicy, but also a little sourish. Still quite nice.

(Bottle 33 cl) Juniper beers are a rather exotic experiece of which I’ve had quite a few. Slightly unclear, golden with a nice, creamy head lacing the glass. Dry, spicy, fresh with some hops in the palate. The alcohol is almost completely hidden. Bottle fermented. Apparently produced for a jenever-distiller in Northern France. 160405
