De Halve Maan Brewing Company is a family brewery in the heart of Bruges, Belgium. The brewery was restarted and refined by Veronique Maes in 2005. With unique beer recipe on the work, the brewery was renamed as ‘Brugse Zot’. Brugse Zot beer became the only beer that is personally brewed in the town center of Bruges. The Brugse Zot and Straffe Hendrik beers are two of the brewery’s finest types of beers. Straffe Hendrik beer is filled with bitter ale while the Brugse Zot is rich in fruity flavor along with different types of malts and hoppy aromas.

Dark brown color. Mild aroma, quite typical Belgian, some caramel and some esters from the yeast. The flavor has some caramel, light yeast fruitness, but a bit poor overall.

This has a fresh, sharp taste. The body is very thin and watery. It’s a beer which is easy to drink but just lacks a full flavour.

Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a clear pale golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma was dry, musty and lightly tangy. The flavor was dryish, lightly tangy, a bit bready and had hints of citrus. Overall fairly bland an uninspired.

bottle. Golden colour, enormously large head, very creamy and persistent. When I opened the bottle, froth was pouring all over my desk. Aroma of apples. Fruity flavours dominate (apple and lemon). Slghtly thin in the middle but spicy and nearly peppery in the finish.

Bottle. Golden beer with a strong fizzy white head. The aroma is lightly yeasty and bubble gum, and the flavour is very much like banana bubble gum and slightly bitterly spiced. Overall an average beer.

Dark nut brown color, big beige head. Metallic, roasted and nutty aroma, hints of cold coffee. Crisp mouthfeel. Caramelly (brown sugar) flavor in the light palate. Tiny shade of spices, lots of caramel malts. Some bitterness and alcohol in the aftertaste. Quite typical middle-of-the-road abbey dubbel, no big faults but not very interesting either.

Bottle. Clear yellow / golden color with a average frothy good lacing mostly lasting white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy yeasty, fruity. Flavor is moderate sweet and light acidic and bitter with short to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Drinkable, but not remarkable.

Bottle. Brown / red (mahogany) color with a average fizzy fair lacing mostly lasting off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty and yeasty, alcohol, marzipan, dry fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic.
