Dark brown with a short head. Aroma of woody malt. Flavour has a bit of burnt wood, warm barrel whiskey. Overall lacks a bit of a kick for the style.

Pours opaque black with about one finger of greyish head; not too big despite quite hard pour, recedes quite quickly and leaves no lacing. Not much intensity in the aroma. A light base of roasted malts overcome by a soft milk stout like feel, a hint of chocolate, perhaps a hint of saltiness. Taste is quite weak as well and not much is going on: soft dark malts (very light roastiness, light chocolate), very reminiscent of milk stout, plus a light background of saltiness. Medium to high sweetness, quite low bitterness, definitely on the sweet side for the style, but not excessively. Quite light bodied with average or slightly below average carbonation, resulting in a rather soft, smooth mouthfeel, which is probably where the beer gives it's best. Overall not unpleasant, but very flat.

Flavour is composed of semi sweet, oily, earthy roast, barnyard, burnt apple, raisin soaked in booze, light ash, lingering alcohol bite. Palate is semi sweet, mellow carbonation. Bold stuff.

Can at home, from an online peddler who's name I cannot recall, 23/12/22. Black with a good sized lasting khaki head. Nose is dark malts, whisky oak, chocolate shavings, mellow roast, light booze, hint of marzipan. Taste comprises dark chocolate, light spice, coffee bean, ripe old bourbon, dried fruit rinds, bitter sweet sugar dusting. Full bodied, fine massaging carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Solid BA impy stout ... good bitter sweet balance and weighs in a good bit below the stated 13%.
