Description
Founded by Oliver Hughes & Liam Lahart, the Porterhouse Brew Co. are Ireland's pioneers of craft beer. Opening Ireland's first brewpub in the heart of Dublin, Temple Bar. Nowadays with a chain of successful bars in Dublin, London and New York the company is now producing from a state of the art brewery located in Glasnevin, Dublin. The expansion to the 120 barrel brewing facility in 2017 helps service our own bars but provides quality beer outside of the bars to consumers throughout Ireland while exporting to over 20 markets globally. The Porterhouse Brew Co. is proud to be a fully run independent brewery with a focus on consistency, quality and innovation.

Thanks to JoeMcPhee for sharing this rarity - an interesting, truly Irish take on an imperial stout - quite smooth and creamy, with a light roastiness and dry mineral qualities (like an amped-up dry stout) - dark chocolate and burnt character, a little leather on the back end - the alcohol content was completely masked - smooth and a pleasure to drink, but lacking the substantial character needed to make it "world class."

On tap at Porterhouse, Covent Garden. Enormously choc velvet. I mean it’s like drinking a Belgian choc truffle chocolate. Question is, is it any good? Well there are 2 answers. The choc loving part of me says, "Yes, this is the most intense choc beer I’ve ever had and I love it." The beer purest would say "It’s a bit thin and grainy and it’s a bit crude after half a pint and you wouldn’t want much more."
