I am not much of a stout fan, though I tend to prefer the oatmeal varieties over the regular. Saranac however has not done well in this style though. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a very small dark brown head that fades quickly. The aroma is moderate roasty malts. The body is rather thin and watery which is a real disappointment. The flavor is strong roasty malts with moderate floral hops. The beer is quite bitter and rather dry for an oatmeal stout. Too thin and too dry for my taste.

Bottle. Winter 12 pack. Sweet flavor, and just as the user below me said, it is not very heavy for a stout.

Dark red color. Smells kind of like a sweet caramel beer, and I can taste a coffee/butterscotch flavor, really over the top though.

Bottle in the Winter 12 pack. Not to bad. Redish color, light head. Quickly disapearing head, and a spice/malt color.

Bottle, 12 bottle winter pack. Tasted a lot like a regular belgian ale. Like I’ve said before, I’m not a huge fan of these kinds of ale, so I didn’t like it that much.
