The Home of Esker is at the Australian Hotel & Brewery in Rouse Hill. Our production facility there has been the only brewery in the Hills Shire for the last 12 years. We believe that all roads will eventually lead you home. Inspired by our home in the Hills Shire of Sydney, we craft beers to be enjoyed on that journey.

Beers rebranded from Australian Hotel & Brewery to Esker late 2022/early 2023.

At the brewpub. Hazy dull amber. Medium head. Fairly bright mosaic hops, but with malty chewiness. Has light bitterness, and the chewiness isn’t really there on the palate. Has a nice hop character and bitterness in the finish.

Interesting collaboration between a craft brewery and a (mostly) craft retailer. 355ml can into shaker. Fruity hop nose (quite rich like dark grapes/plums but subtler), a little bread too. Hazy orange beer with creamy two-finger white head. Fine and steady carbonation. Oily texture, flat mouthfeel. Taste is aspirin bitter then the finish is a bit of fruit followed by resin, earth, twigs, dry herbs......... Well-balanced and easy drinking at 6.5%! Very dry finish makes you want another mouthful. Brilliant!

Can, as All Star Session IPA. Amber with a frothy white head. High bead. Aroma of kumquat, pine, some mango and peach, a touch of caramel. On the thin side and highly carbonated. Not much to the malt side of things except caramel, and that takes the edge of the citrus. But there’s plenty there and a fair bit of pine at the fairly bitter finish. A bit astringent from all the bubbles too. But nice US hops and very clean.

Can from Beertopia 2015 at home. Clear golden pour with sticky crop circled head. Aroma is grassy hopped pilsner. Taste follows - more rounded out pilsner, less crisp, more grassy hops, more honey malt. Smooth bubbly palate. Lasting pilsner bitterness. Not bad. Probably wouldn't get again though.

355ml can into glass. Subdued hop nose, even a little malt present. Looks great, deep bronze beer with solid two finger white head. Light but steady carbonation. Good body, slight zing. Excellent malt taste with citric hop finish. Wow, this is good. Not trying to be an American Pale Ale (as I thought) but more a souped-up ESB. Really enjoyable.

Can, 8C. Very pale gold with a large white head. Grainy aroma with grass, herbs and lemon. A bit fumey, then there’s a load of overt alcohol in the first sip. Blech. Grainy and husky with honey, lemon, strong herbs. Bitter and boozy at the end. A little better as it warms but decidedly not for me.

From a 355ml can on 19/6/2015. Pours a clear medium golden with a small bright white head. The nose is grassy and herbal, with a hint of citrus. Flavour wise, it starts with bready and biscuity malt, followed by orange and lemon, some honey, and distinct herbal notes. Highly hopped, with a nice sticky bitterness countering the initial dash of sweetness. The palate is lovely - long and slick, bordering on syrupy. You don’t doubt it’s 8.1% but it’s it still pretty easy to down. A really good imperial pils. Great to see Aussie brewers producing world class gear like this.
