Sampled from the tap at the West Village location. Pours near black with a chocolate brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy chocolate and light pepper with some roast and a touch of dark grain backing. Flavor has sweet dark grains and some chocolate with just a hint of spice coming through.

Sampled from the tap at the West Village location. Pours a near clear orange amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy and tart citrus with a bit of grass and earthy grain backing. Flavor had tart citrus and grapefruit with some creamy sweet grains supporting.

Can, from Trader Joe's, Manhattan. Pours opaque dark brown with a large spongy tan head, faint roasted malt aroma, low carbonation, medium bitter dark chocolate taste with faint cinnamon-vanilla, thin body, long cocoa finish. The chiles are not very prominent.
