Draft. A pitch black beer with a thick brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of chocolate, caramel, and berries. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of roasted malt as well as notes of over ripe fruit, alcohol, berries, and chocolate as well as a light touch of licorice, leading to a dry and roasted finish. The alcohol tickles the palate. Nice. Congratulations with the baby and the beer!

Bottle. Thx Storm and papsoe. I wasn’t very surprised to find it poured a dark body, it was hazy, reddish brown in color, and the head was medium sized and tan. Sweetish, roasted, chocolatey aroma with coffee and a hint of alcohol. The flavor has the same lovely start, but soon a rather un-Belgian bitterness appeares. It’s a quite unusual, but sure nice, blending fine with the other flavors. It finished with a long roasted flavor with room for the bitterness too. As usual, a lovely beer from Jacob & Co. (071228)

50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with tan head, clearly filtered, as a consequence thereof: no yeast at the bottom. Aroma is dominantly malty - with a mild roasted note and with a solid caramel element and a subdued hoppy note. Flavour is classic brown ale - yet solid on the malt and hops without being overly so. Ends with a nice bitterness and smooth chocolate malty note.

500 ml bottle. Hazy reddish brown body with a huge beige head. Aroma is sweet malt, candy sugar and spices like cloves, ginger and anise. Some alcohol as well. Flavor is much the same as expected from aroma, sweet malty and warming alcohol. Very nice indeed.

Bottle 50cl, best before 08 2008. This is a good stoutr, among the best i have tasted. It is quite the ordinary high quality stout though, nothing special about it. Well crafted. The taste somehow reminds me of concentrated guiness. All the different tastes are well balanced, like food where you know lots of spices have been used, but you can’t tell them from each other. Great beer, actually. As usual they spend 20 lines describing a historical fact about copenhagen and 1.5 lines about what’s in the bottle (water, malts, hops, yeast).
