Description
RYGR Brygghus is a microbrewery in Kverneland Næringspark on Jæren. The brewery was established in 2017, and came on the market in 2018. RYGR is owned by the employees and Grans Brewery. The brewery is named after the Smokers, who were the first grain growers in southwestern Norway in the Viking Age. In 2020, RYGR has become one of the largest microbreweries in the country, after reaching a national agreement with REMA 1000 supermarkets. In addition, the products are distributed to Vinmonopolet and bars and restaurants.
The brewery has been a driving force for the use of local raw materials in production, and to a large extent uses malt from the same municipality from Jæren Korn & Malt and oatmeal from Stangeland Mølle. In 2020, other fermented raw material producers were also incorporated into production.
Beer in 50 cl cans are produced in Sandefjord by Grans bryggeri.

On tap @ Melkebaren. Almost clear pale golden body with a lacing white head. Nice fruity aroma like some citric and a bit grape/floral, might be Nelson? The hop is dominating the aroma, just a hint of pale malt in the background. Flavor goes in the same direction, light and refreshing with the hops in front. Still have a feeling of Nelson here, one of my favorites btw. Slightly bitter. Medium body and same light and refreshing aftertaste. A typical thirst quencher, nice enough but really not much going on.

Bottle. Almost clear pale golden body with a huge, but short living white head. Aroma of grain and coriander with a little hint of something acidic in the background. Flavor is refreshing, but feels a bit thin and weak. Seem to have everything expected from a wit, but so little and discrete all the way. More like a hint of a wit, way to anonymous.

Bottle. It pours a finger-thick white head over a clear golden body. Weak, fruity aroma with notes of grass and hay. Some flower notes too. It's medium to thin bodied, quite dry, with a decent carbonation. It's fruity in the flavor too, with some canned fruits juice sweetness. Hay notes, grass and a flowery touch, with a very soft bitterness. Medium length finish. A decent kölsch style beer, although a bit on the sweet side. 190907

Can. It's an unclear orange colored beer with a minimal sized off-white head. Guava, strawberry, mango, passionfruit, grapefruit and a light fruity, sugary touch. It's full-bodied, with a low but pleasant carbonation level. Dry-ish. Mango, grapefruit, passionfruit, lemon notes, hints of pine cones and with a rather soft bitterness. Lasting finish. Quite nice this one, pleasant fruityness. 190906

Can. An unclear orange colored beer with a finger-thick off-white head. The aroma has lots of passionfruit, some strawberry, grapefruit hints and a touch of grass and pine cones. It's rather thin on the palate, semi-dry and nicely carbonated, with a light bitterness. There's some pale malts in the flavor, with fruityness dominating. Grapefruit, guava and strawberry. Lemon hints. Pine cones towards the very end. A beer that should be made at 6% ABV, not at 4.7%. Refreshing anyway. 190907
