Description
What began as an pursuit in quality beer became more serious when local homebrewer Ola Raphaug joined the discussion on local beer. 2015 saw many test batches and the feedback on the beers produced was too positive to ignore. A brewery needed to be built.

As 2016 approached the team started looking for a suitable place to put it all together. A recently closed and emptied supermarket proved to be a healthy space to put it all together. The building would have room to grow and had refrigeration systems vital to production of quality of beer. Located in Kotsøy the brewery would need a name and an identity.

Tormod Leithe from Dynamis Designs was brought to the table. He designed a logo that had the four elements as branches around a central core. The four branches represent the four valleys around Forollhogna, the four main ingredients of beer, and the founders of the business. Respectively the core, our product, comes from the branches of dedicated people and quality ingredients.
As the branches of this design came together so did the brewery.

Gylden brun kar med høyt eggegult skum. Lukter prim, karamel og vanilje. Fyldig. Smaker alkohol, brent karamell, noe trevirke og vanilje. Lang.

On tap at B�din Beer Festival. Has a slightly unclear straw colour with an off-white head. Aroma of soap, nutmeg and some chlorine and wheat buns. Flavour still has some chlorine along with wheat buns, grass and dry hay. Has a light and slick mouth feel, medium body and a light bitterness. Sweet but the chlorine disturbs. Fair enough.

Can. An orange colored unclear beer with a finger-thick beige head leaving curtains. The aroma has orange, a light tropical touch and some grass. Hints of pale malts in the back. It's medium bodied and nicely carbonated, with a very light bitterness. The flavor too is on the fruity side, with orange, tropical fruits, pale malts and a hint of wort. Fruity finish. A nice session IPA, but I find this edition a bit too much on the wort side in the flavor. Not really disturbing though. 190624

Golden with a white head - Fruity and hints of herbal hop aroma - Malt body with a herbal hop flavour and bitterness - The herbal hops with bitterness goes into the finish - This was nice

0,44 boks fra helsekosten på Kvaddå, hjemme: nesten helt sort med flott beige skum som varer til siste lekre dråpe er unnagjort. Fyldig smak og imøtekommende aroma - her stemmer alt. Dessertchokolader, en kopp nyrøstet kvalitetskaffe med en dråpe melk, mørk engelsk toffee, og så har saltkvernen min nettoppp passert nennsomt over det hele. Suveren helhet, og farlig nytbar. Hogna seiler opp som et av mine favorittbryggerier!

Heftig, men god. Alkoholisk, men det er lov i denne stilen. Noe floral.

Bjørk skal jo ikke gi så mye smak, men her er det en litt overveldende, emmen smak, som ikke høyt karbonet kan dekke over. Det blir kort og godt litt for mye. Litt harsk ettersmak

Can shared with JMD on board Fridtjofen 03.08.19. Cloudy yellow peach colour. Diminishing head. Refreshing taste of passion fruit and mango juice. Medium dry and slightly sour.
