Bottle at Cambrinus, 31st May 22. Pours a deep clear caramel. Aroma is esters, honey, light caramel. Taste is honey and caramel, bittersweet, sugar, yeast and citrus. Packs a punch

Clear golden, huge, foamy, off-white head. Aroma of pear, apple peel, white pepper, banana, clove, coriander, soap. Taste has sweet apple, banana & pear; spicy middle of grass, phenols & bready maltiness. Grassy hoppy finish, bit floral, spicy, ripe fruits lingering as well as jenever-like alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. I remember that, as a teenager, my dad used to drink this regularly at the same Cambrinus restaurant, and my inexperienced taste buds found this extremely bitter. Now a proper sample betrays its deeply Belgian profile but the hops present do provide a welcome bitterness.
