Can shared in Hackney - cheers to Seth. Pours unclear gold with a fleeting, foamy white head. Light-medium sweet flavour with nice fluffy wheat biscuits, bits of banana, clove. Light bodied with average carbonation. Nicely balanced finish, pleasant wheaty sweetness, some dough, banana. Very tasty.

Draught@SBWF2022. Hazy reddish brown colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, mild toffee, caramel and some toasted tones. Flavour is toasted, some mild bitter floral tones with a bit herbs and some toffee.

IPA from Washington D.C. hopped with only Mosaic, from a can with rather camp label - but I guess it works among the doubtlessly dozens of other IPAs on the shelf of a Washington drinks store... Thick and frothy, egg-white, rather large-bubbled but generally firm, cobweb-lacing head on a misty apricot blonde beer with pale orangey glow and a steady column of sparkling rising up from below. Luscious, sweetly seductive nose of orange zest, ripe guava, mandarin, starfruit, granadilla, pitaya, meringue, hardy kiwifruit, lemongrass, rose scent geranium (the myrcene the brewery itself refers to), biscuit cake, honey, candied apple, mangosteen, fresh rosemary, minerals. Spritzy onset, lots of minerally carbonation with stingy and rather numbing effect, even a kind of 'mineral water' undertone persisting through it all, before a clean flavour of malts and hops arrives, carrying little fruitiness and little sweetness, apart from some guava, pitaya and lime notes; cereally core, slender and straightforward but with a light biscuity edge (less so than expected based on the nose, though), elegantly bittered by both the minerals from the brewing water and the hops, the latter providing retronasal aromas of grapefruit zest, mandarin peel, guava and cactus fruit, but also a softish yet long-stretched peppery and lightly wormwoody bitterness. Hoppy finish for sure, but not as harsh and resinous as the old West Coast IPAs - and at the same time offering a wonderfully fruity nose reminiscent of New England IPAs: this is the perfect compromise between both IPA worlds, the compromise sometimes known as 'mountain IPA' (even if Washington D.C. is obviously on the east coast of the States). The aroma is downright stunning, spreading all the qualities Mosaic can provide even when used on its own, but the flavour just does not deliver the same excitement as the nose - but still a very sophisticated and solidly made IPA from a trustworthy brewery. Enjoyed it quite a lot on an exceptionally hot late summer night, if only it had more grapefruity bitterness to it...

--Keg at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. -- Hazy golden, rich firm head. Aroma of apricot and lemon. Mid sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Apricot and lime on bread. Mid bitter finish.

330ml can. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived, frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, light toffee caramel. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, rich, roasty, smoky, light coffee, chocolate, liqourice bitter palate. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation.

330ml can. Poured a clear golden colour with a bubbly white head. The aroma is malt, light toffee, citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a light, crisp, malt, yeasty, toffee, light citrus, woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Refreshing.

Can from Home Bargains, Bridge of Don. It pours darkest brown to black with a sturdy tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, dark charr, coffee grounds, chocolate, gateaux, mocha, toasted spice and toasted fruit cake. The taste is quite smooth upfront, robust, rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet character, dark roasted coffee, faint hint of acidity, coffee cake, umami, cacao nibs, dark chocolate, nuttiness, praline and dull alcohol presence with a roasty, mocha finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Robust, flavourful and yet drinkable. Solid porter.
