Description
Yards has been brewing Philly's beer since 1994. We’ve grown from a garage-sized operation in Manayunk all the way up to our current location at 500 Spring Garden Street in Northern Liberties. And we couldn't have done it without your support through the years. Our beers always have and always will be brewed, bottled, kegged, and canned for the hard working people of Philadelphia and beyond.

2nd August 2010. Fonefan in the Masters Division - Jan’s Birthday Bash.
Beer fetched from downstairs by cgarvieuk - Cheers Craig! Opaque black beer. No head. Moderate carbonation - light palate - fairly dry. A little lactose sweetness. Spritzy. That’s about it - and airy dark malt beer.

Bottle shared by Sean, thanks! Poured a clear brown with an off-white head that completely dissipated. Aroma was full of molasses notes with some dark grains as well. The flavor was similar with a strong molasses note and a bit of bitter spruce coming in towards the finish.

Nice cloudy brown coloured body with a very thin, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of strong spice - spruce obviously being noticeable, a bunch of alcohol, nuts, caramel and a whole lot of figs. Full-bodied; Assertive effervescence with a lot of spice up front, a ton of raisins and figs, but showing more spruce and alcohol than anything else. Aftertaste is strong, yet fairly complex. Overall, an interesting beer, and one that is gladly needed with too many ’big’ beers and similar styles. Not executed flawlessly, but a good attempt and one typically only seen for Christmas. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 01-July-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 18-July-2010.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Rated 4/16/10. Pours a hazy orange-peach color with a white frothy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of coriander, bubblegum, yeast, nutty notes and a very faint hoppiness. The taste is very spicy withy notes of bubblegum and an herbal hop finish. Medium bodied. Decent but just a tad bit odd.
