Description
It started on Plaza Drive in New Albany, Indiana, with Sportstime Pizza in 1987 (now the NABC Pizzeria), followed by Rich O’s (NABC Public House) in 1990, the incorporation of the New Albanian Brewing Company in 1994 and the launch of the original New Albanian Brewery in 2002 (the first commercial brewery in New Albany since 1935). The Pizzeria & Public House are still going strong.

In New Albania, beer is a way of life. NABC stands for a quarter-century of experience, education, recognition and success. Not only that, but our machines kill fascists, too.

Now more than ever before, we ask: Can your beer do that?

On tap at New Albanian, pours a hazy amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of Christmas spices upfront, with cinnamon and nutmeg especially. Flavour is a spice bomb, with shitloads of nutmeg, clove and cinnamon. Thick malty body that gives way to the spices. Not my thing, but it's done well.

On tap at New Albanian, pours a cloudy amber orange with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out lots of resinous hops upfront, followed by caramel bready malt and some sticky toffee. Flavour is along the same lines, with resinous hops galore upfront, and a big caramel bready malt backbone. Excellent interplay between the hops and malt. Chewy and balanced. Really good.

On tap at New Albanian, pours a hazy blonde with a medium white head. Aroma brings out crisp crackery malt, a grassy character and a light herbal crunchiness. Flavour follows through, with grassy notes upfront, light herbal character, and a crisp crackery malt base. This is pretty authentic. Crisp and nicely herbal. Very nice helles.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Redstone Liquors, Stoneham. Appearance is clear, light brown/dark orange with good sparkle, finger-width off-white foamy head with fair retention and decent sudsy lacing. Aroma is lemon, candied sugar, peppery spice. Taste is as aroma though spiciness more forward than the sugary sweetness. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with slick, smooth texture, soft carbonation, and finish as taste. Overall, it is just as advertised and it is decent, but is a bit too sweet and strays pretty far from a standard saison.

Draft. Brandy, orange, wheat malt, and straw aroma. Hazy golden yellow with small head and moderate effervescence. Moderately sweet brandy, orange/banana, wheat malt, and mildly bitter straw and clove flavor. Good body. Pretty good - brandy tends to dominate though. Nice but I liked the apple brandy barrel version better.
