Description
In August 1982, our late founder Tony Allen opened Oak Brewery on an industrial estate in Ellesmere Port. After much success, he moved nine years later to a location more central to his trading areas. Phoenix Brewery, Heywood!
Phoenix Brewery was registered in 1874, brewing directly from the Brewery tower and owning over 100 pubs in the local area. Phoenix’s history is still proudly displayed on our seven-story tower.
Building upon our strong foundations, we continue to brew Tony’s longstanding classic beers, whilst introducing innovative new brews. The team are looking forward to welcoming you to our Brewery site – soon to be open to the public for the first time in our history!
In 1996 it took the decision to trade as the name of the brewery Phoenix Brewery.

Cask at the Olde Mitre Tavern, London on 31st October 2012. Amber with thin off-white foam decaying to ring-and film and initial wisp of lacing. Very sweet malty aroma. Sharp stingingly citric in-mouth with some spices, also quite lactic - sour milk. This theme continues into a sharp and sour aftertaste. Light mouthfeel and medium body.
