Really deep ruby colour (almost black). Medium head. Lots of coffee and chocolate in the aroma and there’s some sweet liquorice as well. Dry, roasty, slightly peaty, almost smoked flavour. A nice beer, a bit unbalanced though.

Very dark brown, with a red shine; huge dirty-brown head. Liquorice, coffee and a fruity aroma, mostly blackcurrant-like. Outspoken burnt taste, carbonised-like. This is indeed completely over the top: I can taste & feel the scorched, carbonised amylum. Fruity, sourish flavour typical for this kind of beer, but again, not very refined, no deeper aroma’s. Bit thin texture under the stout creaminess. Dusty carbon. The nose promessed much - the taste, however, failed to deliver. Not so the 2 crazy Danes, thanks to whose kindness I sampled this rare bird.

(Sampled draught @ Stockholm Beer Festival) Bronze coloured with a creamy head. Light nutty, peaty aroma. Surprisingly bitter for an Octoberfest-bier.

Thanks to Per for the chance to enjoy this one. A huge creamy head formed when this was poured. It was a deep tan and comprised of millions of the tinest, cascading bubbles which melted quickly into an opaque black brew. Rich complex aromas of smoky espresso and chocolate. The flavor is sweet and nutty with lots of chocolate and fruit, all delivered in a rich full body with a fine bitterness as it finishes. Well done Imperial Stout.

Sampled draught at Stockholm Beer Festival.
Deep golden. Good combination of rich, buttery malt and grassy hops. Pleasant full blown filling mouthfeel. As bold and richly malty as I like my Oktoberfest to be.
