Dark brown heavily spiced ale. Rather malty, but the gingerbread flavour takes over.

Amber coloured with rich head. Sweet, malty and flowery. Rather bitter. Too sweet for my liking, and also not very complex. My least favourite from this brewery.

2007 bottle
Hazy reddish brown, low head. Sweet, boozy caramel aroma. Sweet, boozy caramel flavour with notes of liquorice. Warming finish. Should improve with age.

Since I took such useless notes on this one, I'll say that this beer traveled more miles to reach me than any other I think. A couple of trips across the Atlantic and halfway to Estonia, and all I had to say about it was toasty. I suck.

Svart (meaning black) is a very suitable name for this pitch black beer. A beer in the borderlines between porter and stout. Too sweet for a typical stout, but too dry for a porter. porter. Like I was hoping for it is (by Swedish measures) remarkably bitter and has tones of liquorice and a big chocolate flavour.

Bottled. This copper red brew forms a nice creamy head. The aroma is dry and very roasty. It has a soft maltiness, and is nicely balanced, with pleasant velvetty finish.

A few bottles of beer have been picked up from a wreck in the Baltic where thay have been since October 11th 1915 when the german freighter SS Nicomedia was sunk by a British sub. Slottskällan has reproduced the beer using the yeast from the recovered bottles. It is a wheat beer but not of any type I have encountered before. It is cloudy and pale orange. It has a strong vanilla aroma, is full bodied, round and fruity. Comparing to their hefeweizen, Vit, it is not as refreshing, but more filling.
The original beer from 1915, which I tasted in september 2000 was hazily dark blonde, and had tart lambic-ish notes, probably from the aging, but was in no way destroyed.
