(Cask at White Horse on Parsons Green, 20191017) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts and dark chocolate. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, dark chocolate, earth, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. A tasty and balanced burnt brew.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 8th October 2019. Deep sepia/ruby black with shallow tan foam and almost no lacing. A rich, roasty aroma. Intense roastiness in-mouth and a bittersweet toasty malt finish. Light bodied with a smooth texture.

Cask at Southampton Arms. Black/dark brown with a minimal head. Aroma is roasted malt, lots of fruit, maybe plums and a bit of marzipan. Taste is very fruity, vinous with a bit of cherry. Medium bodied and a bit oily. Cask-conditioned at the Punch Bowl (JDW), York 1/7/2019. Amber in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. A bitter that inclines towards maltiness, with some caramel, biscuity malts, touch of red berry and moderately bitter finish. Fine.
