Description
When the young Viennese banker Franz Schaup started brewing beer in 1858, he did not expect his small brewery to develop into one of the most successful breweries in Austria over the years.
In the meantime, the Zipf brewery near the Attersee has a proud 13 beers and 3 types of hops, the refreshment with hop lemonade for adults, to their range. A total of 170 employees work directly at the location in Zipf. They are the ones who ensure that everything runs smoothly every day and are responsible for a large part of the success of the Zipfer brand.
Despite the numerous technical innovations and a merger with Brau Union Österreich AG in 1970, the careful use of resources and brewing with natural hops were always in the foreground.

0.5 l bottle from Spar in Semriach. Poured clear golden body with big white head living quite long. Very nice weizen yeast aroma, slightly sweetish banana with cloves and citrus. Bitterish flavor, quite empty, specially after that rich finish, but pleasant and goes down quickly. Finish is fine, relatively long and like bitter, bittersweet. Good beer, but I prefer regular weizens. Or I just stuck to ordinary kristallweizens...

The bottle is simple, but good. The beer in the glass also. Fine foam. Flavor very hefeweizen-like, very fruity, a little bit like banana. The finish a little bit washy. An average hefeweizen.

Bottle. Medium head with medium duration. Color is pale golden. Aroma and taste are barnyard malt and hops. A bit watery.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color with a thick lacy white head. Aroma is harvest and grain. Flavor is a soft metallic water with some grain.

The bottle looks not spectacular but good. The beer in the glass also. Very zippy. Tastes fresh and modest dry in a very interesting way. I like that beer.

02/01 0.25 l bottle from Spar in Semriach. It is not stated with how much Trocken this beer is mixed, but strange thing anyhow. Poured pale yellow body with big head going down fast. Aroma is hoppy and just a hint of sweetish vinegar can be felt. Flavor bitterish, but balanced with aroma of artificial champagne. Boring and pretty stupid to make it this way, tasteless with so much artificial additives. Another Zipfer pearl!

02/01 0.33 l bottle from Spar in Semriach. This is like reinforced radler, with only 10% of lemonade, so let’s see. Poured golden body with smaller head that burned quickly. That artificial lemonade/sprite is still felt in aroma more than beer, from which just some pale notes of hops remained. Flavor also, well the difference can be noted, but like here it is let’s say 40% lemonade. Also too sweet. Lot of carbonation, making finish sharp, sweet and short. That artificial sugar ruins the whole thing otherwise it may even be fine radler.

01/01 0.33 l can from Spar in Semriach. This Zipfer poured light golden body with bigger head (wow, finally a head from this brewer) that gone down pretty fast. Pleasant flowery aroma, malty. Flavor quite bland for that scent, not thin bodied, but tasteless. Finish very short and watery. Nothing offensive and could be refreshing but that’s all this beer has to offer.

01/01 0.33 l bottle from Spar in Semriach. Pale yellow body with, again small head. Dusty and herbal aroma, somewhat malty, but very simple. Flavor is bitterish, quite dry, but on the other side very watery and thin. Almost no finish for that. Yeap, a pilsener, but is it kind of beer mixed water or what?
