Keg at Foodies Festival. Dark brown body with a medium tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of pine, coffee and dark chocolate. Flavour of pine, bitter hops and roasted malt. Dry finish. Medium body with a creamy texture. Light fizz. Rich and hoppy. Very good.

Keg at Red Squirrel. Pours pale gold with a light haze, thin white head. Aromas of light malt, cereal. Thin, watery taste, light sweet, then a saline note. Thin finish.

Bottle shared during JackL’s leaving do. Many thanks to the guest of honour himself for procuring this Oak Wood Series specialty. Pours clear, golden-brown with a frothy tan head. The nose is bread and toffee, mostly. Medium sweet flavor with prominent bready malt character, some nips of corn, toffee and ripe berries. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, simply structured, with more bread, berries and toffee. OK, fine.

Bottle thanks to Jackl. It pours clear brown with a small beige head. The nose is soft, sweet malt loaf, brown bread, fruit cake, caramel, light spice, toasted coconut and vanilla. The taste is sweet, toasted sugars, earthy roast, toffee, black tea, vanilla and some warming alcohol through to the finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Soft and easy going, if lacking a bit of depth.

Bottle shared at craft beer co JackL leaving drinks. Thanks to JackL. Reddy caemale brown coloured pour with a small halo of off white head. Aroma is subdued. Nutty caramel. Tangy apple raisin. Woody. Palate is medium light. Papery. Moderate carbonation. Meh.

Bottle from Deeside Drinks Emporium. It pours clear gold with a small white head. The nose is soft, sweet, grainy, straw, cracker, pithy and some pissy hops. The taste is crisp, bitter-sweet, grainy, doughy, citrus rind, minerals, pithy and pepper with a dry, bitter finish. Light-medium body and moderate carbonation. A pretty basic hoppy golden. Very so-so.

Bottle from Deeside Drink Emporium. 7.3% on the bottle. It pours clear deep brown with a decent beige head. The nose is soft, sweet, toffee, caramel, sticky sweet, candy, sherry, candy, vinous and plenty of jammy berry. The taste is smooth, bitter-sweet, juicy, caramel/toffee, earthy, wood, leather, boozy boost, jammy berry, fruit cake, vinous, sultana and wood with a dry, warming finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not a whole lot of depth, but it has decent boost anyhow. OK.

Bottle from Deeside Drinks Emporium. It pours clear deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is soft, dried fruits, sultana, toasty brown sugars, fruit cake, honey cake, spice and toffee. The taste is bitter-sweet, toasty, brown sugar, dried fruits, fruit cake, honey, toffee, earth, spicy action, alcohol boost and leather with a a warming finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Not much depth, but decent enough.
