Description
In 1810 the Eden Estuary was offering its crystal clear waters to the legendary Haig brothers, helping them distil and lay down some of St Andrews' finest whiskies. Before them this same site hosted the Seggie Brewery, known for their strong connections with local farmers and agricultural workers
In 2012, Eden Mill resurrected this fine brewing and spirits tradition with our own take on Scottish craft brewing and distilling. Eden Mill were Scotland's first single site brewery and distillery – we benefit from the best of local water sources, regionally grown barley and a dynamic, international team with some of the best education and experience the world can offer. Our distillers are at the forefront of experimental wood ageing and distillation methods to bring out more of the outstanding flavours found in our products.
We know our beer, gin and whisky will stand the test of time and do the tradition of St Andrews brewing and distilling proud.

Bottle at Tom’s. Dark brown body with a thin beige head. Light lacing. Aroma of Twiglets, chocolate and dark malts. Flavour of charred wood, tangy hops, a hint of peppery spice and a bitter, roasted finish that lingers nicely. Medium body with a creamy texture. A tasty beer, but I’m not getting much of the advertised sweetness.

My first beer of 2015: 330ml bottle, BBE Jun 15. Poured into a Westvleteren chalice on 1st Jan at home. Good, clear, clean amber body with a full off-white head. Hop nose and taste with a mild citrus base. Although it is all hops and dry in flavour it is not overly bitter. Decent.

Bottle at CASC. It pours clear amber with a small beige head. The nose is sweet, rich, oily, dried fruits, varnish, booze, smoked peat and islay whisky. The taste is bitter-sweet, wood, leather, booze, dried fruits, whisky, earth, burnt toffee, smoked peat, toffee, toffee apple and spice with a dry finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Nice islay character to it. Solid stuff for Eden.

Cask at Six Deg amber with a thick, foamy off-white head. The nose is soft, brown bread, leather, wood, earth and just a touch of sweetness. The taste is bitter, woody, leather, earth, twig, mild caramel, toasty grass and brown bread with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Very good condition helps it a bit. Decent enough hoppy bitter gear.
