Nose is whiskey, cereal slight cola. Not particularly inspiring and dominated by the whiskey. Taste is cereal, slight butter scotch, burnt tofee. No resin, little citrus, leads to vanilla and whiskey liqueur. Mouthfeel is thin. This is distinctly underhopped for a ’craft’ IPA, even for a traditional British IPA it seems to malty, though that is probably from the oak. It’s a mess of a beer that doesn’t work as the flavours bump into each other.

One-third pint by cask at GBBF 2013, first day. Lasting white head over a hazy, golden body. Wheat and spiced fruity nose. Late banana in the flavour profile joined by lightly spiced fruits. Dry ending, on the sweet side. Medium bodied. Has got its moments of joyful drinking. Fine version of the style (London Olympia 13.08.2013).
