Description
Mission Brewery was originally established in 1913, but like most breweries of the time, it went out of business during the first year of Prohibition. In 2007, Dan Selis, an avid homebrewer, re-established the brand and has built it into one of the top craft breweries in San Diego County.

Bottle, 355 at Carnitas North Park, San Diego. Pours dark brown, medium beige head. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, caramel, some dark fruit, alcohol, sweet with rough boozy and bitter finish. Quite unpleasant. Medium bodied. Something went wrong here, wonder if it’s the bottle.

Absolutely great brown ale. Their best beer I’ve had to date. So full bodied and complex for only 4% ABV. Mission Brewery SD.

Bottle from Trader Joe’s in Folsom, CA. Pours translucent gold with a white head. Aroma is more citrus than anything else, but not a Knee Deep sort of thing. Med body. Flavor is a little tangerine and some zest. Could be mostly zest. It’s towards dry, and despite a low flavor level it is amazingly citrously bitter. I’m a bit here and a bit there on this, but I will give it a good rating - flavor is nice, and the bitter is pretty strong. Can barely find the malt. Good that.

hazy orange to amber colour, large, dense off-white head; aroma of tropical fruits, floral-honey notes, pine resin and marmalade; taste has the same notes as can be felt in the aroma, but unfortunately over-dominated by a somehow "rude" hoppy bitterness; based on its aroma, I expected something more complex

Bomber from Trader Joe’s in Davis, CA. Pours gold with a large foamy white head. Mild aroma. Includes light lemon and something herbal. Med body. Flavor is lightly tropical, lightly lemon/citrus and something green/leafy/herbal. Could well be tea. It’s bitter beyond moderation, but it’s not all that harsh. Flavorful and tasty.

Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours brassy gold with a transient white head. Really light hop aroma. Med minus body. Flavor is lightly bready with hop that seems fruity. Not very bitter; not entirely dry. A pleasant thing with more taste than the macro lagers. Not exciting at all.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a bright golden color with an enormous fluffy white head that lingered forever and left excellent lacing. The aroma was sweetish with pine, cactus and grapefruit. The flavor was bitter and tangy with notes of pine, cactus and a bit of cat pee. Long dry finish. Moderately full bodied. Meh.
