Sample at the Flatiron Park taproom. Pours a dark brown color with some amber around the edges, and a medium fluffy light beige head that recedes gradually. Sticky small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak, fruit, yeast and malt. Full-bodied with a fruity tequila character and notes of earthy yeast and malt. The finish is oaky with a tequila and malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Sample at the Flatiron Park taproom. The beer is a dark brown color with a medium foamy tan head that recedes steadily to a film. Sticky strings of lacing on the glass. Roasted malt, coffee and chocolate in the nose. Medium-bodied with a roasty coffee and malt character, with some bittersweet chocolate in the background. The finish is mildly bitter with a roast coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at the Flatiron Park taproom. Pours a clear pale orange-gold color with a medium thin white head that evaporates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of grassy hops, malt and apricot. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, biscuit malt and apricot. The finish is hoppy up front with a mild apricot aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at the Flatiron Park taproom. Clear dark golden color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Herbal hops, fruit and spicy rye in the nose. Full-bodied with flavors of grassy hops, bittersweet fruits and rye malt. The finish is spicy rye and earthy hops. Pretty good overall.

Sample at the Flatiron Park taproom. This beer pours a clear copper color with a medium ivory white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, fruit and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, pineapple and grainy malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a tropical fruit and hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Can. A- Roasty, cocoa, subtle dark fruits. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Roasty, dry, bitter, cocoa. P- Medium body, thin texture, average carbonation, dry finish. O- Naturally, I hate the visible yeast. Beyond that, I’ve heard a lot of negativity surrounding Upslope, don’t know a lot about it but this beer certainly wasn’t positive. Yes, I had it on the last day before the "best by" date (which I have never really seen on a stout before) but it lacked a lot of dimension other than having a lot of dry bitter cocoa and roasty.

Pours a clear medium gold with plenty of foam but seeing as I am drinking it at Old Chicago and they use a nitro mix for the beers, that may or may not be typical.

Plenty of citrus in the smell, mostly grapefruit. Doesn’t smell all that spicy.

Tastes reflects the smell. Grapefruit bitterness, minimal rye spice and malt.

Very nice mouthfeel.

355ml can from AshtonMcCobb - cheers Ash! Pours a beautiful deep amber red, thin beige head that stays around. Aromas of pine, resin, caramel. Taste is light bitter, good balance, grapefruit notes, but good malt backbone. Resinous in the mouth, toffee at the end. Good stuff.

Can thanks to cthomas2390. Appearance - beautiful dark red and clear. You’d swear the re was fruit in there. Attractive if then head. Nose - earth, resin and gentle toffee. Taste - slight grapefruit tang in amongst the caramel and earthiness Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy and resin texture and a long dry finish. Overall - lovely balanced beer.

It looks like a typical American Adjunct Lager, complete with the lack of a long lasting head of foam and lacing.

The nose is VERY fruity with a veritable multitude of fruits that I could describe. Cherry, blackberry, grape; it’s whatever YOU can pull out from the wine barrel aging, that counts. It hasn’t completely lost its roots, being a Saison at heart; it has spice, pepper and a bit of clove and that typical farmhouse smell if your nose is up to it.

The taste is a good balance between a Saison and what wine barreling can do with the style. Read each and every word I mentioned in the smell. Copy it. Paste it in the description of the taste, perhaps, a notch or 2 lower as there’s a smoothness that doesn’t expose itself in the smell.

An aggressive 2nd pour from the Howler gives me about an inch of short lived foam and lacing but I still dig that wine/saison smell and taste.

Medium bodied, pretty light carbonation. good mouthfeel and a very interesting thing done here by Upslope. I like.
