Description
WHAT'S AN UPSLOPE?
Meteorologically speaking, it’s a front range-covering, water-table-filling, snow-dumping weather pattern that anyone with bindings and a roof rack would die for. Beerologically speaking, it’s carbonated gold. In 2008, Matt Cutter, Henry Wood and Dany Page, kissed their homes in Cleveland, Atlanta and Argentina goodbye to bring their beer-brewing love affair to Boulder, Colorado. With that, Upslope Brewing Company was born. And after ten years of supplying Colorado with trailhead tallboys, and pow-day libations made from the freshest snowmelt, the finest hops and the purest passion for living life outdoors, one thing has become undeniable. These guys didn’t just float another microbrew into the sea of Colorado microbrews. They created a lineup of quality craft beer that tastes as good poured from a tap as they do pulled out of a fishing vest. In other words, for those who call the Continental Divide home, the perfect storm.

Slightly clear coloured body with a thin one centimetre tall off-white. Aroma of strong pineapple, pine and resinous hops with a large malt backbone and a strong yeast finish. Full-bodied; Strong rich malt and hops flavour at first with a deep apricot and oak note and a solid malt backbone. Aftertaste shows a very strong hop note with a ton of sugars and toffee and a lot of apricots. Overall,a very nice and rich imperial ipa with a ton of flavours and a rich complexity throughout. I sampled this sixteen ounce can purchased from Santa Fe Wine & Spirits in Littleton, Colorado on 06-June-2014 sampled a day later with haddon90, thanks Phil!

Can as shown. Pours a clear orange with no head. The aroma is a strong spice, nutmeg, cinnamon. Thin mouthfeel with a strong cardamon, cinnamon and spice that lingers. Good.

Can from Liz. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is a little bready and lightly spicy. Med body til carb leaves. Flavor is bready, mildly noble, and it unfortunately ends rather grainy. And a little bitter.

Rich, slightly hazy amber and copper coloured body with a nice two centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of yeast, mild bread, pale malt and some light floral hops. Medium-bodied; Strong yeastie and spice notes up front with some bread and a hop kick with some grassy and herbal notes. Aftertaste is dry with some herbal notes and a little bit of bread. Overall, a nice, but deeply bready and yeastie beer with some good flavours, but nothing spectacular. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased a few minutes ago at Whip In in Austin, Texas on 05-May-2014 sampled a few minutes later in my hotel room here in Austin on 05-May-2014.

Golden color, hazy, medium head. Wonderful fruity hop aroma, a bit animal. Full bodied, good malt flavor, moderately sweet, good toffee character; strong bitterness, animal resins, and plenty of fruity character.
Balanced. Excellent.

Sweet, light cocoa. Seems a strong, slightly alcoholic stout. Sweetish cocoa character. Fudgey. Touch of that going nowhere fruitiness of a lousy foreign stout. Misses the style mark by quite a bit, and isn’t all that interesting otherwise.

Can carried from Denver by Liz. Pours light golden amber with a slight white head. There’s pine and mild caramel in the aroma. Med body. Flavor is very smooth pine, floral and arguably fruit. It burns a bit in the gullet (heat), but in the mouth I think the burn is hop. It finishes very bitter and very tasty. Seems like it goes more floral in the finish. Amazingly unharsh.
