Meteorologically speaking, it’s a front range-covering, water-table-filling, snow-dumping weather pattern that anyone with bindings and a roof rack would die for. Beerologically speaking, it’s carbonated gold. In 2008, Matt Cutter, Henry Wood and Dany Page, kissed their homes in Cleveland, Atlanta and Argentina goodbye to bring their beer-brewing love affair to Boulder, Colorado. With that, Upslope Brewing Company was born. And after ten years of supplying Colorado with trailhead tallboys, and pow-day libations made from the freshest snowmelt, the finest hops and the purest passion for living life outdoors, one thing has become undeniable. These guys didn’t just float another microbrew into the sea of Colorado microbrews. They created a lineup of quality craft beer that tastes as good poured from a tap as they do pulled out of a fishing vest. In other words, for those who call the Continental Divide home, the perfect storm.

500mL can, sent from robloc303 (thanks a lot, Rob), pours a fairly clear golden orange with a medium white head. Nose brings out resinous hops, caramel malt, some syrup, and some residual candied sugar. Flavour is extremely well-balanced, with loads of resinous hops, caramel malt, piney, and a little residual candied sugar. Amazingly well-balanced, not skewed at all between either the hops or malt. Finishes slightly sweet and quite hoppy. Excellent balanced IIPA.

From can: Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is sugar, chocolate, and a bit of fruitiness. Nice and smooth foreign stout. Requisite amounts of milky chocolate. More chocolate than roast... Slightly sweet, but in the right amount. Nice and balanced.

Location: 12 oz can from Central Market, 11/18/13
Aroma: The nose is on the lighter side, some caramel/toffee and a little pine/citrus
Appearance: It pours a clear caramel-red color with an off-white head and plenty of lace
Flavor: The taste is light-medium sweet, with caramel malts, and light-medium hop bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, it feels a hint thin, with a soft carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: This beer has an alright flavor to it, and it drinks fine, but it certainly isn't anything impressive. This is the first of a 6-pack, so maybe my opinion will change, but at this point I am not particularly impressed.
