Description
Sori Brewing is located in the capital of Estonia, Tallinn. Backed by crowdfunding investors, Sori Brewing is on a mission to make the world more fun with better craft beer. Started by two Finns who moved away from their home country to brew without compromises. Not far, but far enough to make it count. Together with an amazing team, these guys are dedicated to bring you joy in a form of craft beer.
Currently brewing around 3000 hl a year and running a barrel program with almost 200 barrels. We enjoy brewing a wide range of beers, from barrel-aged big beers to refreshing sours and super hoppy IPA’s.

A colablack beer, a head is medium and light brown. Interesting and not an usual aroma. Weird and strong spicyness of anise and ginger, liquirice, some roastiness and vanilla. Taste has roastiness, black coffee, anice, some ginger. Medium+ bodied, smooth enough. Notes of ginger are quite weird, since that’s not used. More balanced as the temperature is warmer. Unique beer.

Tap at Hopfenreich. Slight hazy light golden with white head. Light dough and gooseberries, fresh mint, lime, bit of the Margharita I had earlier comes to mind again, though that had way more aroma than this. It’s really fresh with the lime and mint quite in the background. Light sour, just a hint of sweetness and The salt is also light here. Thin bodied.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - batch 023 - BB 27112016, from Alko Viikki, 20151215) The beer poured clear and nearly black. Its head was medium sized, lightly brown and it lasted long. Aroma had coffee, burnt malts and cream. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, coffee, ash, chocolate and bitterness. Aftertaste had coffee, burnt malts and bitterness. A rather tasty coffee infused stout.

Bottle @ home. Opaque dark brown to black color, medium to full sized light brown head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, dark malts, espresso and some herbs or spices. Tastes about the same: malts, dark malts, not a lot of coffee or espresso but the spices or herbs are there again to dominate. Lightly a touch of liquorice. Too much herbs or spices for me to like it, at least that’s what it reminds me of. Even though the label says it’s got bourbon vanilla cocoa nibs.

Tap at Hopfenreich. Slight hazy copper with fluffy almost white head. Lime, grapefruit peel, light orange blossom, flower honey, mango, light pine resin. All backed with sweet caramel malts but very well befitting the hops. Medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with a bit sticky feel. Nice one.

Draught @ Brewdog Helsinki. Pours pitch black with a tiny head. Aroma of roasty malts, coffee, cocoa and hints of dark chocolate. Taste is smooth, slick and slightly sweetish with some roasty malts, coffee, cocoa and licorice. Finish is smooth, slightly roasty with some notes of milky coffee. Okay.

Bottle @ home. Clear (until you pour in the yeast, then it’s instantly murky) orange golden color, huge fluffy white to off-white head. Lovely fruit hoppy aroma, peach, sweet pineapple. Taste light to moderately malts, again very nice fruity hops, tropical fruits, very nice fruit hop bitterness. Decent to medium body, medium to high carbonation. Lovely hoppy beer. 8-3-8-3-16 (3.8) -- Rerate February 7th 2017. Completely different experience this time. The hops have gone, or heavily faded at least, only bitter hop remains and the carbonation is insane. Way way way lower score than the first time I tried it. I don’t often adjust scores, but this is really a big difference with what I tasted the first time. Down by over a point sadly enough.
