On tap at McDowell’s Pub in Leesburg. Pours a hazy, caramel amber with some cloudy, white head. Big nose, plenty of orange and grapefruit, malt, tropical fruit, mango, pine, soap, caramel. Flavor is very piney, sappy, heavy orange, orange peel, orange juice, mango, caramelized pineapple, malt. Full, sticky, bitter finish. Very nice.

Had this at the Summer NOVA BrewFest, poured a golden color with a small white head. Aroma was light citrus notes, floral character. Not too hoppy, a bit more reminiscent to a pale ale, but highly drinkable and enjoyable for what it was. Looking forward to trying more from them.

Cask at the brewery. Pours a murky brown color with a thin fizzy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of nutty notes, cherries, burnt sugar, pineapple. The taste is sweet, cloying sugar, caramel, tart fruits and just the faintest bit of roast that is insufficient to provide any balance. Medium bodied, way too sweet. Imaginative, but it didn’t work. These guys generally do great stuff, so I’m glad to say this low score is an outlier.

Served on draft at Beer Run. Glad to see this one as these guys have been impressive, are way ahead of other breweries their age and are about a step and a half from super-stardom. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of citrus and earthy hops with faint pale malts. The taste is citrus hops, grapefruit, pith, pale malts and just a faint buttery note. Medium bodied, well balanced. Nice beer.
