330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average to huge, thick, frothy to creamy, moderately to mostly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Roasty, minimally spicy, dark malty aroma, hints of chicory, a touch of lovage, burnt malt, ashes, weak fruity overtones with a touch of blueberry. Taste is roasty, minimally ashy, dark malty and slightly fruity, low residual sweetness, hints of blueberry, a touch of burnt malt, chicory, metallic overtones. Watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium to fine, soft, mildly prickly carbonation. More burnt than roasty malt flavours, relatively weak fruitiness - improvable.

Optisch orangerot-kupferfarben und gut trüb. Die elfenbeinfarbene, feinporige Schaumkrone hinterlässt einen sehr voluminösen und langlebigen Eindruck. Im Duft machen sich schöne Karamellmalzaromen und reife Fruchtnoten breit. Der Antrunk kommt frisch, weichspritzig, leicht karamellig und deutlich herb. Im Mundgefühl zeigt sich ein Körper mit mäßiger Fülle, moussierender, feiner Rezenz, leicht cremiger Konsistenz und deutlicher Trockenheit. Im Geschmack und Aroma zeigen sich, wie erwartet, karamellige Malznoten, die sich mit einer leicht herben, und reiffruchtigen, aber nicht süßlichen Charakteristik mischen. Eine zarte Säure scheint sich dabei ebenso beizumengen. So erscheint dieses Irish Red ein wenig unrund, für meinen Begriff zu bitter und auch die malzigen und fruchtigen Noten, die man erwartet hätte, kommen etwas zu schwach. Diese Faktoren hemmen die Drinkability leider merklich. Im Nachtrunk entfleuchen die malzigen und fruchtigen Noten sofort und eine deutliche Bittere breitet sich aus. Sobald diese nachlässt, bleiben leicht karamellige Noten über. Mein Fazit: Auch wenn es nicht unbedingt schlecht ist, fehlt doch einiges zu einem guten Irish Red.

Sweet-ish, minimally bready and toasty, malty and slightly fruity. hoppy aroma, notes of red berries. Taste is slightly dry, grassy and minimally fruity hoppy, slightly bready and minimally toasty malty, diluted hints of red berries, a touch of rye bread. Watery texture, minimally dry palate, medium to coarse, scattered, prickly carbonation. Quite watery, a tad overcarbonated - not really convincing.

0.33 l bottle from 'Craft Bier Bude', best before March 2024. Very hazy, orange with a large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, very fruity, minimally sourish aroma of orange, tangerine, passion fruit and some grapefruit. Slightly sweet, gently bitter, minimally sourish, very fruity taste of grapefruit, orange, tangerine and some passion fruit, followed by a short, gently bitter, minimally sourish and gently dry finish. Medium body, a little astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Super refreshing beer, very fruity with that dry touch from the Kveik yeast.

0.33 l bottle from 'Bierothek' (Dortmund), best before January 2024. Hazy, orangeish amber with a large, frothy, stable, white head. Sweetish, rather fruity, gently resiny and a bit floral aroma of passion fruit, orange, grains and some pine. Gently sweet, moderately bitter, quite fruity, slightly floral and a bit resiny taste of passion fruit, grains, pineapple, caramel and grapefruit, followed by a short, quite bitter finish. Medium body, smooth and quite effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Decent IPA, quite bitter and harsh but somewhat unround.

330ml bottle. Minimally milky, orange, dark golden colour with average, firm, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Sweet-ish, minimally bready and strawy, pale malty as well as slightly yeasty fruity and minimally hoppy aroma, a touch of apricot. Taste is sweet-ish, slightly biscuity, minimally bready, pale malty, minimally fruity and mildly bitter hoppy, slightly yeasty fruity, hints of apricot, mirabelle, a touch of brioche, a mineral touch. Watery texture, smooth and soft, simultaneously minimally dry palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Flattering fruitiness and sweetness, drinkable - very nice.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, yellow-ish, dark golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Rather weak, sweet-ish, fruity, hoppy aroma, slightly biscuity, pale malty background, hints of orange, mandarine, a touch of coconut, wasabi. Taste is bitter hoppy, surprisingly intense (considering the weak aroma), typical notes of Sorachi, dry, leafy, coconut, sisal, whiffs of wasabi. Watery texture, dry palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Nice exposition of the Sorachi, funny decision to use this spacy variety in a single hop ale; therefore not everyman's taste for sure - nice.

Citrusy fruity and minimally herbal hoppy as well as minimally bready, pale malty aroma, hints of lemon, lemon tea, a touch of menthol, whiffs of white bread crust. Taste is minimally bready, pale malty, slightly citrusy fruity and minimally herbal hoppy, hints of lemon, a touch of menthol, woodruff, some white bread crust, a papery touch as well. Watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium, dense, foamy, mildly prickly carbonation. Fairly refreshing, too light body, slight imbalance (and West Coast style aberrance) due to the Polaris - so-so.

Trockener, leicht bitterer Beginn. Angenehm hopfig, Bitternoten, getreidig-würzig, rund. Spritzig, mittellanger Abgang, gut. 10/8/9/9//9
