Description
The storied history of one of this island’s most beloved and iconic brands began on September 6, 1961, as Banks (Barbados) Breweries Limited opened its doors in Wildey, St. Michael and commenced production of Banks Beer, Barbados’ premium lager, and later, other indigenous brands such as PLUS, Tiger Malt, Canon Stoute, Coconut Cooler, Fruesta, and TWIST Shandy, just to name a few. The Brewery is also the local bottler and distributor of Guinness, and has been recognised by the world renowned brand for its maintenance of the highest level of quality and international standards.

Bottle - Golden in colour. Malty and grassy aroma. Malty taste with a moderate bitterness and notes of corn and grain. Pretty much what I was expecting.

My 139. beer country! Golden color, small white head. Grainy, cardboardish aroma. Light body. Corn sweet malty, a bit honeyish. Cardboardish too. Very typical tropical lager.

Bottled. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is grass, grains, bready malts, some slight notes of maize. Flavour is maize, mild grassy notes, some hay as well as mild honeyish and salty notes as well. Refreshing and nice on a hot summers day.

Bottle from SB cons 2011-05-29 Göteborg AR: corn, chemical sweeteener, glue AP: clear golden, wee white fizzy head F: suger cane, hops, corn, heavy loaded with wee bubbles - hard to detect the flavor (bubbly like champagne)

Bottle. So I guess I’m on a bit of a Latin American/Caribbean pale lager tour right now, finding a cluster of them in FL stores while here. Pour is predictably boring... watery apple juice color with little head and a pretty constant stream of bubbles. Aromas are apple juice and skunky hops (but the hops aroma seems to die quickly after opening the bottle... it was there, now it’s not.) I like the flavor on this one, though. Sure, it’s apple and honey malt (but not a ton of corn syrup gunkiness) with a little bit of herbal hops. Still, Barbados is leading the lager pack right now...
