Description
Ashford-based Low Key Barrel Project specialise in barrel aged beers. Producing beer in beautifully waxed 375ml bottles and specialising in big, aggressive beers from impy stouts right through to heavily adjuncted barley wines, Low Key brew anything but low key beer.

Bottle from Hoptimism. Hazy amber colour with a thick off white head. Aroma and taste are sweet vanilla. And fruity with a slight malty chocolate finish. Smooth boozy body.

Bottle from Hoptimism. Hazy amber colour with a slim head. Aroma and taste slightly chocolate, fruity. With a tangy jam finish. Smooth slight boozy.

Bottle from Hoptimism. Deep hazy golden colour with an off white head. Aroma has light vanilla, chocolate certainly some coffee. Light sweet to long bitter taste. Slight tangy fruit. Boozy and full body.

Bottle from A Hoppy Place, Windsor. Aroma is dominated by the tonka and cherry. Bitter edge. Dark and glossy. Tan head briefly foams before dissipating. Initial sweetness with a bitter edge. Tonka. Develops a sourness but it's the sweetness that is key, albeit it is kept in check. And, yeah, the tonka dominates the taste also. Thick. Oily. Flat-average carbonation. Loonnggg slightly astringent finish. My initial reaction was that it was just going to be a sickly sugar bomb but it's fine. Just works like more darkness from an Impy Stout.

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is chocolate, liquorice, tonka bean, vanila, taste is similar, sweet, creamy, light spice from the whisky.

375ml bottle. Pours murky orange brown with no head. Aroma is peaty, vegetal peanut and coconut. Taste has some veg, chocolate, coconut and coffee. Watery with no carbonation.
