Bottle at the CBC Tune-Up, London. Pours black-brown with a light, beige foam head. Tobacco and roast aroma, some leather and dirt. Medium sweet flavor, lightly tangy dark malts, with moderate roast and some dry cocoa. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly dry to finish with some dusty cocoa and lightly tangy, darkly toasted malts. Nice porter.

Bottle at the brewery, London. Pours faintly hazy amber-brown, effervescent with a rich, fluffy white head. Definitely a lot of crisp ginger in the aroma. Flavor is lightly sweet but very dry with faint toasty malts, hefty and zesty ginger, crackery malts, light lemon and mild leafy bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Zippy and crisp to finish, fairly dry, lightly sticky, light to moderately sweet with tons of spicy ginger that lingers on. A very solid ginger beer, this. The beer still retains a lot of its beeriness, which is great.

Tap at the brewery, London. Pours cloudy, matte amber with a thick but small off-white foam head. Lots of ripe melon on the nose, with some berries and toasty sugars. Medium sweet flavor with ripe and dry melon, rotten grapefruit, toasted sugar and bready malts, and some tangy ripe citrus. Quite a bit of tang to finish, with more overripe melon and citrus, mild toasty sugars, faint grass. Yeah, pretty wet and tangy to finish. A bit rough overall, though it has some redeeming characteristics.

Tap at the brewery. Pours a mostly clear, rich amber with a frothy, off-white foam head. Nose holds some dry melon, light wood and toasty malts. Medium sweet flavor with toasty sugars, loads of ripe citrus, mild melon and grapefruit, faint pine, some sweet and toasty bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly sweet to finish, lightly dry with toasty bread, toasty dark sugars, and ripened citrus fruits. As a beer it’s fine, kind of like an old school British IPA. As a modern IPA (i.e. hop-forward with a bit more resinous bitterness and fresh citrus) it’s just so so. The dryness in the finish definitely saves this beer a bit.

Bottle at Leighton’s Euro Semi-Final tasting, which I picked up at an Oddbins. It pours hazy amber, with a decent beige head. The nose is sweaty, citrus pith, pear and wood. The taste is citrus pith, soapy lemon, brown bread, leather, resin, spice and sweet malt. Some alcohol warmth is apparent towards finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A decent IPA.

Bottle at the Semi-Final Tasting, London. Pours lightly hazy amber with a soft, white foam head. Mild melony and light, ripe citrus nose. Light to medium sweet, some light toasted malts, mild grass, some earth. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Faint warmth to finish, some light resinous pine, a bit of earth, some orange rind. Not bad.
