Roast and caramel. Milk chocolate. Coffee and cream type vibe. Black murky pour. A little sweet and syrupy but I like this one a lot more than many of that description. Still pretty well balanced. Bittersweet finish. Bottle.

Super clear coloured body with a bright orange body and lightly coppered glow with a sliver of pure gold coming through at the bottom, all with a very thin, single centimetre tall that fades to just about nothing, pure white head. Aroma of grass, hay, light caster sugar, some strong mango and papaya notes with a hint of yeast and coriander seed on the end with some leftover sugars. Medium-bodied; Assertive tropically fruit sweetness up front with a lot of mangoes, bunches of papaya and some guava with a tiny bit of tarter notes but no passionfruit or hibiscus. Aftertaste is very dry with a super yeastie and coriander seed bite towards the end, all with a lot of floral and quite grassy finishes that show a good level of dryness, tucked in with the relatively strong malt body that is with this one. Overall, a very nice and incredibly aromatic saison with a good balance throughout and a great introduction to the tropically fruit notes that show through with some orange and curacao notes towards the end, all sitting on top of a very smooth coriander seed and hay dryness. Great to try, especially fresh, and well worth buying more than one of these, given that they are so good and nice for the [warm] season! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from the Department of Beer and Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 17-May-2020 for US$2,69 sampled at my house here in Washington on 27-May-2020.

Pour is a clear almost tan with a large white head. Aroma is pretty much all the passion fruit. It's tropical so far. Flavor is again a pretty overwhelming passion fruit with a slight tartness on the back end. Not much of a saison aspect to this but a whole lot of passion fruit was used. I would say it's just ok. It's fruity, I'll give it that but a knock I do have against it is that is 7.5 abv. This needs to be more in the 5.5. range.

Bottle (that has been waiting in the fridge for quite a while.) Pours like a cola... fizzy head and a lively carbonated brown body. Aromas of chocolate, leather, and autumn leaves. Flavor is pretty interesting... chocolate and cinnamon are the main draws with a bit of earthiness on the finish... kind of that leather and fall leaves thing. It's thin on the palate but fairly full on flavor. I liked this a lot more than I would have guessed after the pour and nose.

Nice hoppy pale ale, heavy on the pine and grapefruit, backed up by toast and caramel and a little grass, leading to a modest bitterness on the fade. Not bad.
