On tap at the Schlafly Tap Room, St. Louis Brewery. Appearance is clear, pale yellow with no sparkle or head. Aroma is typical honey mead. Taste is mead with subtle effervescence (like mead was put in a soda stream). Mouthfeel is light bodied with thin texture (the effervescence reduces the typical thick mead), smooth carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, mead's not my favorite thing but the spritzer quality livens it up and makes it more desirable.

Taster pour on tap at Tapped, Maplewood. Appearance is opaque black, no discernible sparkle, 2-finger beige/light brown foamy head with excellent retention and nice leggy lacing. Aroma is light roasted malt, earth. Taste is mild chocolate. The peppers don't contribute much to the taste, more a spiciness and mild heat. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, spicy, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, aroma and taste are a bit on the mild side and a bit overcarbonated for a stout (though all taps were pouring frothy) but nice spiciness and amount of heat from the peppers. 3.8

Bottle from Trader Joe's, Chesterfield, MO. Pours a slightly hazy straw color under a sudsy head. Light basic beer smell of a pale lager. Taste is also like a light lager, but its unfiltered-ness give it a lot of body and heft. Nicely filling on a summer day.
