On tap at Christian Firtal. Hazy orange with a lasting white head. Malty aroma with spicy phenolic notes. Dry malty flavour with toffee and biscuit, spicy and herbal notes, and a rather bitter finish

Bien

(Keg at Pipes of Scotland, Uppsala, 20140922) The beer poured brown and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had vanilla, wood, fruitiness and Belgian style yeast. Palate was medium bodied and dryish with medium carbonation. Flavours were vanilla, wood, caramel, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody, midly tart and bitter. Too much wood for me.

Bottle from Beer Shop, St Albans. Dark, dark brown. Surprisingly little head. Smell of American milk chocolate, liquorice, hazelnut: nicer than it sounds if somewhat artificial. Sweet taste, the star anise really comes through. Slightly sickly. Nice creamy palette with lots of tickly carbonation. Interesting stuff, very well made but a bit too clever for its own good.
