I hate traditionalists, and I love experimentation, but....but....kaffir lime....in a Belgian Dubbel?????Yes, they have succeeded in being uncommon. Congratulations. Pushing the envelope is great. Throwing a bunch of random shit against the wall to see what sticks in a whole nother thing. This did not stick. Sweet (too much so) with more of an underfermented amber ale flavor than that of a Belgian ale. Lemongrass is overdone, lime is overdone, coriander is overdone. Wow. Fortunately I was given this to try and did not spend money on it. Friend couldnt give the rest of the 4 pack away. Another big yikes. If you’re going to ruin a beer or go over the top, at least make it fun (Crime and Punishment come to mind, maybe some Brew Dog stuff, etc....)

16 ounce can. Pours a mostly clear dark red brown color with a small white head. A nice smooth coffee and chocolate toast nose. The flavor is berries, toast, light smoke, fruity hops. Very flavorful and smooth. Nice. I love me some hoppy brown ales, and pork is a bonus.

Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma of spices and a bit tartness. Taste is fresh and spicy, but dark at the same time. Lemongrass, yes, Kefir - maybe that’s where the tartness comes from. A super-special beer. I like it.

Keg at the CP&K, 13/03/15. Very lightly hazed golden with a decent off white swirl. Nose is tarte apricot, melon, tangerine, light funk, candied fruit. Taste comprises peach, vanilla, candied fruit peel, tangerine, apricot, tarte fruit notes, wooded tones. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent Belgo, subtle BA, doesn’t get too sweet.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is big sweet floral, rose petals, zesty citrus, crunchy "PEZ" sweeties dissolved in lemonade and love juice...OMG it’s gorgeous! Oh er... It turns out that was the aroma of the cute girl that sat next to me at the bar! Compose yourself man! Ahem. Time to start again. The aroma is bretty yeast, vinous citrus. The flavour is moderate sour with an acid lemon citrus aspirin mineral palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. I wished the girl of my dreams would come back! Damn showers. Probably should have take one this month :-)
