Where: From a bottleshop in Amsterdam.
Appearance: Black colour with a beige head.
Aroma: Roasted malt, dried fruit, alcohol, caramel.
Body: Medium body, low carbonation.
Flavour: Chocolate, roasted malt, caramel.

33cl Bottle from Speciaalbierwinkel Bodegraven. Dark brown colour, creamy beige head. Aroma of husks, cocoa, slightly dusty, bitter chocolate, roasted malts, some dark fruits. Flavour is much the same, quite dry, cocoa and chocolate, light fruity bitter finish. Medium-bodied, soft mouthfeel. Good. Could also qualify as a Dubbel.

On tap at Arendsnest. I’d classify this as a Brown Ale btw. Brown colour, light-beige head. Aroma of caramel, sweet toasted nuts, toast, quite malty, light hoppy. Flavour is sweet, malty, caramel, toast, light hoppy and nutty bitter finish. Oily mouthfeel, light-bodied. Decent beer.

Tap @ De Drie Dorstige Herten. Brown coloured with a beige head. Nose is toasty, caramel malts, light fruity. Flavour is tosated malts, caramel, fruity. Medium carbonation.

Tap @ DDDH, medium sample. Clear copper color, medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, some grassy hop, toffee. Bit sweet of caramel and toffee in taste, soft bitterness. Subtle yet balanced brew. I liked it.

Draught @ Arendsnest. Nice dark amber color, full sized off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma and taste are malts, some hops, caramalts, decently bitter. Medium to full body and carbonation.

Black with well retained head. Aroma of powdery cocoa and toast. Strong cocoa taste. Quite thick and rich.

Sample from bottle at Winterbier Festival Gouda 2014. Very dark color. Beige head. Aroma’s: sweet, roasted, coffee, and additionally some fruit and roasted malts retronasal. Flavor is moderate sweet, roasted malts, chocolate. Medium bodied. Finishes roasted and moderate bitter. Nice!

Sampled @ PWBF Gouda 2014. Opaque black color, small light brown head. Smell and taste malts, lightly grainy, lightly bitter but a touch of sourishness. Meh. Average to medium body and carbonation.

Bottle sampled at Gouda Winterbier Festival. Dark brown pour with a medium beige head. Aroma of overripe dark fruits, caramel and raisins. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.
