Fugu Brewing Co.
Client Brewer in Anderlecht, Brussels Capital Region, Belgium 🇧🇪
Established in 2020
We start microbrewery lessons at the EFP in Brussels and we brew dozens of tests before finalizing our first beer: the Fugushima.
Not currently having a standard brewing place meeting the highest of standards or sufficient financial means, we lend the recipe to a partner brewery (Brouwerij Anders, Halen, Limbourg) to start. By offering beers that represent who we are, we hope one day to be able to swim together in the hops and make you discover the fruits of our own production.

Good white head over veiled, if bright yellow beer. Grapefruit, fruitrind, unripe strawberry, cucumber. Cypress flavour, again cucumber; other grains. Sweet and malty, maybe tasting a bit tired. Finish has again grapefruit. Not very carbonated, slick, hopoily. OK, but suffering from the malt overdose, no doubt needed for balancing. Txs to Stef!
Sadly, not as good as the #1. That one was amazing!

NEDIPA in collaboration with Gamma Brewing, brewed with chit malts and hopped with Galaxy, Citra and Cashmere; can shared by tderoeck, cheers Tim! Egg-white, medium thick, dense, shred-lacing head, cloudy yolk-yellow robe with pale orangey apricot tinge. Aroma of yuzu, starfruit, granadilla, halfripe mango, lime zest, mandarin, honeydew, meringue, limoncello, Screwdriver. Juicy onset, lots of granadilla and starfruit with a touch of mango, prominent citrusy effects too (lime) adding considerable freshness; softish carbonation but importantly tingling through a soft, almost creamy, juicy body, with a Betterfood- and white bread-like malt core drenched in bright, lightly tropical-tinged hoppiness, zesty and radiant, with the starfruit, yuzu, mango and lime returning. In the very end, a light glow of wodka-like alcohol is noticeable, but it does not interfere with the wonderful splendour of the hops nor that creamy softness of the malts – I had much more boozy NEDIPAs from craft brewers in other European countries perhaps better known for this genre so kudos to these Fugu guys, they really are becoming a force to be reckoned with in IPA land.

Pours hazed, intense haze even, blonde. Small white head. Scent is light, damp pepper-type yeast (NEIPA style, but less fruity) No real hops or malt aroma, the specific yeast has the upperhand here. Taste is fairly bitter, over a thick body, almost smokey by the yeast ( obviously not truly smokey, but it's pointed in that direction) . Way to little hoparoma - not only stylmetechnical, but also what the beer needs for any balance. Creamy base.
