Description
Fate brought us together at Hawkshead Brewery and in a short time it became clear we shared a passion for great beer and many ideals. After being made redundant at the beginning of lockdown restrictions in March 2020. Matt, Michelle, Steve & Paul reunited as Lakes Brew Co. Bringing together the shared ambition to be one of Cumbria’s progressive, sociably innovative breweries. With a strong ethos of support and collaboration, through the beers we produce and the team we surround ourselves with – engrained in our locality.
Adversity lit a flame within us to create something for ourselves, take control of our own futures and build a brewery that we are happy to be involved in. The end of July 2022 marks the first year of brewing for us. We have been so lucky to be able to carry on doing what we are passionate about, not only brewing but in the area that feeds us inspiration on a daily basis. Creating innovative & progressive craft beers in the Lake District and proud to be an inclusive, independent, woman co-owned business where everyone is welcome.

25/3/2023. Can from Beer Central, Sheffield. Shared at SBGP1. Pours slightly hazy pale orange gold with a frothy white head. Aroma of orange, tropical fruits, apricot, herbs, pine, husky notes. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness and body. Average carbonation. Nice bitter finish. Best of the Lakes beers I’ve tried.

Cask at Old Harkers Arms, Chester. Pours a golden amber with a small off-white head and good lacing. There’s marmalade and orangev pell in the aroma, plus some hints of malts. In the mouth it is sweet with a creamy texture. Malts are briefly to the fore before being displaced by traditional hops, along with hazelnuts and traces of ginger and dried apricots. Finish is quite dry. I rather liked this – a good no nonsense bitter.
