Tap at the newer Oldenbur in Madrid. Dark amber, golden lace. Light honey roast, fruityness as it warms, grassy hops, good balance, not as much bitternes as in other Alts I think. Medium body, light sparkly mouthfeel.

Bottle from Carrefour. Clear pale yellow colour, white head. Nose is light hoppy, bit grassy, some sweet malts. Flavour is grassy, bit grainy. Clean. Fairly bitter finish.

Sep 2011: 500ml Brown bottle poured into two Alt glasses: this beer is really dark, dead dark in fact, a huge light brown head topped off a good looking beer. The aroma was of slightly smoked malts, coffee and dark chocolate also could be detected. The flavours in the mouth followed the smells almost to the letter, roasted and toasted malts giving off those lovely chocolate and coffee tastes, again with a hint of smokiness. Mouthfeel was a lot better than almost every other Schwarzbier I’ve had, being richer and thicker than the usual lager based brews normally found under this style. Wasn’t expecting such a good beer to be honest, glad I bought it. Easily the highest scoring beer of this style I’ve reviewed (this is the 12th).

Total Wine & More, Fairfax sixer ($8): Pours a dark color with a beige head. Aroma is cheap lager, a hint of roasted malts, and grain. Taste is pretty much the same. This is a little sweet. Not as chuggable as I would have liked. Pretty much, this is forgettable.

Bottled, 0.5l. Hazy light orange color with huge frothy white head, fizzy carbonation and yeast residue. Aroma of grains. spicy hops, yeast, banana, raisins and some detergent notes smelled, too. Sweet & sour malty taste, followed by relatively crisp mouthfeel and finished dry with mild grassy bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium body, oily texture and low carbonation. Pretty good, but tasted better few years ago...

Bottle. Pours a very dark ruby with a small tan head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is raisin and sweet fruit malt. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet malt and metallic finish. A decent Schwarzbier from Krombacher.

Got a whole case of this beer, so I already tried several bottles. The bottles look really good, nice label, nice cap. Beer in the glass very dark, almost black, nice head. Starts mild, sweet-malty, interesting notes of chocolate. Not very dry. Mild-yeasty. Finish still mild and sweet. Could be a bit more intense and dry, but still a great dark hefeweizen!
